David Gray PR was formed in March 2002 by former journalist Charlie Laidlaw, who has been a PR professional for some twenty years in both London and Edinburgh. In London, he was on the board of Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s largest communications groups and, on returning to Edinburgh, was appointed the Scottish director of Citigate Scotland, growing the firm to become one of Scotland’s Top 5 agencies within three years.
He also set up, and was chief executive of, Scottish & Westminster Communications, which was then Scotland’s first specialist public affairs agency. He formed David Gray PR having been, for five years, a senior official and Head of Media and PR at the Scottish Rugby Union. As such, he was the first PR professional in northern hemisphere rugby.
David Gray PR is a full-service agency which has broken the traditional PR agency mould, providing only a principal-led service. In other words, no account managers or account executives – only experienced and senior people at director level. To provide such a service, where appropriate, the agency works in partnership with other principal-led firms to provide specialist design, new media or public affairs advice and support.
David Gray PR is all about understanding its clients’ commercial or other objectives and delivering promotional solutions that work – effectively and cost-effectively and anywhere in the UK or further afield. We don’t offer PR for its own sake and believe that investment in sensible PR should be an investment in corporate success. Your success is therefore our business, an ethos central to creating business partnerships that get results.
