We are a team of experienced management consultants who work to facilitate culture change
The Change Navigators are a small team of management consultants with expertise in facilitating organisational culture change. The partners have a wide range of experience in organisation development and management development.

What we do…
The partners facilitate organisational culture change. Research indicates that many organisations struggle to accomplish transformational change. It can be very difficult for organisations to develop a new “winning formula”, particularly if the organisation has a successful track record. When managers initiate a change of strategic direction they often encounter resistance within the organisation. This is because many of the traditional routines and behaviours in the organisational culture are geared to delivering the old strategy. As well as being familiar, habitual, comfortable and taken-for-granted these routines have a proven history of success, which makes them resistant to change.

The partners work with managers to engage various key stakeholder groups in exploring the changes that may be required to deliver the new strategy. This process can be quite challenging as it encourages a broadening of perceptions and questions many taken-for-granted actions, routines, decisions and behaviours. The process helps people to discover new ways of working that may be more appropriate and more effective (in the current climate) than the traditional pattern of working relationships. The partners work mainly in the following areas:

• Stakeholder consultation and engagement • Facilitating strategy development
• 360? Feedback
• Management development
• Organisation development and design

How we work…
The Change Navigators work in partnership with their client organisations to develop new ways of working. The aim is to encourage sustainable behavioural change that will support learning and continuous development in the future. The partners employ a coaching style, which means that people are encouraged to think their problems through to find their own solutions rather than being told what to do. They tend not to recommend any particular course of action. Instead their role is to;
• Raise awareness of why change is necessary
• Help managers to consider what specifically needs to change in order to deliver the strategy
• Provide a framework to help managers decide the most suitable approach to bring about change
• Work with people to help them consider how they think and act within their role and to examine how this impacts on;
a) How the organisation delivers the strategy
b) how they perform in their own role
c) the nature of their working relationships
• Encourage people to try out new skills in the workplace, reflect on the outcomes and apply the learning within the context of their own job role.
